Windsurfing: Pevensey Wind Direction: NE Wind Stength: Surf / Sea State: Choplumpcrap Air Temperature: Scorchio! Sea Temperature: Weather: Blazing sunshine Max Speed: Distance Covered:
With NE winds forecast I made a first-time trip to Pevensey with an early
start due to the expected very high grockle numbers. Arrived 10.30am to
find feck-all wind. Grrrr. In a huff I slowly rigged the 7.0 but
fortunately by the time I'd finished the wind had started to veer more
onshore than expected and pick up.
It remained there or thereabouts for the rest of the day, albeit very up
and down at times. I had to change down to the 5.8/Skate combo twice - the
first time I was underpowered, so back to the 7.0 which I'd left rigged,
but the second time at the end the 5.8 was just about right. As Brian has
said in his report overall a 6.5 would probably have been the perfect size
for today.
So a good 4 hour saturday summer scorchio session, albeit mostly just
unexciting grooving, with the good windy bit at the end annoyingly
coinciding with high tide lumpiness...but best of all, I was wearing just
boardies and a rashy! I've always wanted to find out for myself if
rubberless sailing could be done in the UK, and it can - I was perfectly
warm enough today until right towards the end when the wind picked up.
